Hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) & vehicle dynamics assessment (VDA)

Hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) can be central to a robust perimeter strategy. We develop bespoke, creative landscaping solutions such as outdoor seating, hand rails and plant bedding. Our approach means that the solutions we develop are not always as overly visible as obvious methods could detract from the aesthetic of the building and public realm they are protecting.

We conduct vehicle dynamics assessments to determine potential threats that defences need to protect against, and we also carry out optimisation studies to ensure that an appropriate level of protection is provided.

We work closely with architects and design teams to develop HVM strategies in a way that provides clients with the required level of protection without compromising the overall aesthetic profile of a project. We advocate early engagement with HVM design to make sure it can be implemented in a way that adds to, rather than detracts from, the spaces it protects.

The range of services we offer cover the entire HVM design process and include:

  • Initial site survey
  •  Vehicle dynamics assessment (VDA)
  • Design & specification
  • Installation supervision
  • Commissioning
  • Advice on operation & maintenance
  • Guidance on removal & re-use
