We are proud to announce that as of June 2021, we have been certified as a Carbon Neutral Plus Organisation and have offset 103 Tonnes of carbon.
This is the equivalent of being carbon negative, which means that QCIC will be taking out more carbon from the atmosphere than what we emit as a business.
To obtain our Carbon Neutral Plus certification we have selected 3 VCS (Verified Carbon Standard) offset programmes around the globe, which will continue to assist with reducing our carbon footprint.
Our new offset programmes are:
- Guyung Salak Geothermal Power Project in Indonesia: Geothermal power plants use steam produced from reservoirs of hot water to rotate a turbine. This renewable energy activates a generator that produces electricity https://www.carbonfootprint.com/vcs_gunung_salak_geothermal.html
- Portel-Pará REDD Reduced Deforestation Project in Brazil: Helping to reduce deforestation in the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. https://www.carbonfootprint.com/brazil_para_redd.html
- Wastewater Treatment and Biogas Project in Thailand: This Thai starch plant captures methane, using anaerobic wastewater treatment facilities and converts the gas into energy, replacing the need for fossil fuel consumption. The project assists with the prevention of methane from harming the climate and avoids thousands of tonnes of fossil fuel being burnt per year.
We are a business that genuinely cares for the planet, actively supporting and driving initiatives that minimise the use of natural resources, emissions and waste.
