Andries Olivier World Quality Week QCIC 2024

Here at QCIC Group we are celebrating #WorldQualityWeek and looking at some of the complexities of delivering high-quality physical security engineering services amidst a rapidly changing global economy. Our dedication to exceptional quality in designing, building and running security systems remains steadfast. Here, we outline the unique challenges and our strategic approach that ensures our clients receive unparalleled security solutions.

The annual global campaign from World Quality Week raises awareness of the quality management profession, and this year focuses on the theme of navigating complexity in today’s business landscape. It is a great opportunity for us to highlight some of the quality principles we use to ensure we are working above mere compliance and providing outstanding performance, both internally and to our clients.

Today’s global economy, influenced by shifting geopolitics, technology, and evolving markets, has reshaped client expectations dramatically and demands a proactive approach to physical security needs. At QCIC we use global and local compliance as a base line only – through creating our own internal blueprints and reviewing continually, our quality assurance processes stay resilient and allow us flexibility to adjust our security engineering practices to meet international demands.

In this article we look at some of the common challenges in upholding quality in physical security in today’s world.

Rapid technological advancements

Emerging technologies, such as AI—offer significant opportunities but also create challenges within the security industry. QCIC ensures our team of experts remain up to date on the latest technology, empowering our team to adapt methodologies and optimise security solutions for our clients.  Investing in internal systems, expert engineers and partnering with leading experts in the field ensures we stay at the technological forefront in all our projects.

Regulatory compliance changes

Regulatory frameworks are becoming more complex across all global regions. QCIC’s rigorous compliance practices ensure alignment with local and global standards, but we also ensure flexibility in our processes, so we remain adaptable to client requirements.  Staying on top of these regulatory demands and remaining vigilant to change is essential to uphold the highest standards of security engineering.

Our multiple ISO certifications are proud industry benchmarks.  Importantly, these provide an internal framework to work within in addition to providing our clients with assurance that they are collaborating with a trusted partner operating at the highest global standards.

Alongside our ISO 9001 accreditation, QCIC are also ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus certified acknowledging our commitment to digital security and keeping our staff and clients’ data safe.

 Diverse client requirements

As a global provider, QCIC tailors physical security solutions to meet clients’ specific needs across various sectors, such as finance or technology, as they all have unique demands. Balancing personalised services with standardised quality protocols is crucial to maintaining QCIC’s reputation as a trusted security engineering business.

By providing specialised project management and oversight, we assist clients throughout their projects rather than at specific milestones.   We work with chosen Q-Net partners to ensure  physical installations are completed to a defined standard, providing an independent governance layer throughout the process.

Economic factor impact

Economic instability can impact clients’ budgets for physical security services. QCIC works alongside the client to ensure that we are delivering high-quality solutions that demonstrate clear value. By prioritising quality within budget constraints, we find innovative ways to deliver on our promise of excellence.

So how do we sustain tquality levels for our clients and our teams?

Ongoing training that works for specific needs

To remain at the forefront of physical security engineering, QCIC prioritises professional expertise across the business. For example, through weekly CPD “Breakfast & Learn” sessions, our teams engage in the latest security trends and tools, allowing us to be in a position to deliver agile, innovative security solutions for our clients – and to connect, engage and debate what these trends mean to our processes and our internal practices.

Agile QMS (Quality Management System)

QCIC employs an agile quality management framework that enables quick adaptation to regulatory changes and client needs. This continuous improvement culture is vital to maintaining our leading position in security engineering and works on real-time feedback and any macro-economic factors presented.  Our QCIC Corrective Action, Preventative Action, Improvement Action Process (CAPAIA) creates a clear structure which staff and our client base utilises to formally log feedback to our integrated management system. This feedback is registered, investigated and implementation plans actioned and verified to improve company performance. We use this robust process to reflect on experience, learn and prevent complacency in our approach to excellent service delivery.

Focus on customer first, every time

Strong client relationships are foundational to our success. Through our Client Satisfaction Surveys and Quarterly Business Reviews, QCIC gains the insights that help us meet and exceed client expectations. We use this feedback to enhance our services and refine our approach, ensuring client satisfaction and operational excellence – which all links back to our compliance processes and governance of these.

Use of technology

Advanced analytics and automation streamline our operations, enhancing the effectiveness of QCIC’s services. Our Research & Innovation department, led by Patrick Biggin, drives technology adoption, from Design Automator to My-Access, creating a responsive, high-quality consultancy environment.

What does this mean in reality?  Our in-house dedicated innovation team is available to the whole business, taking ideas and feedback from the operational teams and turning these into automated tools and processes that improve working practices and efficiency.

At QCIC quality is not an accident but a habit and it takes continuous effort to influence the standard of service we offer our clients.  – Andries Olivier, QCIC Quality Manager

In a dynamic global economic landscape, QCIC’s level of commitment to excellence in physical security endures – our ISO 9001 accredited management framework forms the backbone of our business protocols and allows us to continue to improve and adapt to both global and local market needs. By embracing adaptability, investing in training, and maintaining strong client relationships, QCIC  upholds the highest standards. During World Quality Week, this dedication to quality is reaffirmed.
